Residential solar across the North Island

What's included

  • Free assessment and a savings estimate from your power bill
  • Hybrid inverter so a battery can be added any time
  • EV-ready wiring and charger options
  • Network connection application lodged for you
  • Installation by SEANZ-authorised installers, monitoring app and training

Designed from your bill, not a package

Every Solar Scope home system starts with your electricity bill. From it we estimate your daytime and evening usage, then model how much a given array and battery would save you. If you want a tighter number, we help you request 12 months of half-hourly data from your retailer and rerun the model.

The result is a proposal with options: solar only, solar with battery, or a battery-ready system you can extend later. Hybrid inverters and EV-ready wiring are standard in our designs, so adding a charger or a battery is a small job, not a rebuild.

Engineers on the design, registered installers on the roof

Solar Scope’s electrical and electronics engineers handle the design, the product selection and the network connection application. Installation, testing and commissioning are by SEANZ-authorised, EWRB-registered electrical contractors, and we coordinate the job so you deal with one point of contact from quote to switch-on.

We work with homes across Hamilton and the Waikato, and take on residential projects from 8 to 10 kW in Taranaki, the Bay of Plenty, Auckland and the Manawatū.

After the install

You get the monitoring app, a walkthrough of how the system runs, and ongoing support. If you later add an EV, a heat pump or a battery, we already know the system and can size the upgrade.

How the job runs

  1. Step 1 of 3

    Send a bill

One recent power bill gives us an estimate at roughly 80 to 85 percent accuracy. Twelve months of half-hourly data lifts that to 90 to 95 percent.

  2. Step 2 of 3

    Choose a system

We propose options around your usage, roof and plans, from solar only to solar with battery, and show the expected savings for each.

  3. Step 3 of 3

    Install and switch on

Our installers fit the panels, inverter and any battery, the network connection goes live, and we show you the monitoring app.

Residential solar: common questions

How big a system do I need?

It depends on your usage, roof and whether you charge an EV or plan a battery. Most homes we design are 8 to 10 kW and up, sized from your bill rather than a package.

Should I get a battery now or later?

Either. A hybrid inverter lets you add a battery when it makes sense. We model both and show you the difference in savings and payback.

Which panels and inverters do you use?

Premium brands chosen for the project, including Jinko Solar, LONGi, AIKO, JA Solar and Canadian Solar panels with Sungrow, Sigenergy and Enphase inverters.

Do I need building consent?

Most residential roof systems qualify for a consent exemption. We check the roof and, if the structure needs a review, arrange a CPEng-qualified engineer.

What warranties do I get?

A 10-year workmanship warranty, typically up to 25 years product and 30 years linear performance warranty on panels, and manufacturer warranties on inverters and batteries, commonly 10 years.

Do you install outside the Waikato?

Yes, in Taranaki, the Bay of Plenty, Auckland and the Manawatū, for systems from 8 to 10 kW upwards.
