The dairy heartland

The Waikato is dairy country, and dairy sheds are one of the best cases for solar in New Zealand. Milk cooling, water heating, vacuum and effluent pumps run through the day, and the shed roof is long, clear and usually well oriented. We design shed roof and ground-mount systems for farms around Morrinsville, Te Awamutu, Matamata, Ōtorohanga and Cambridge, and model a battery against the evening milking where it makes sense.

Poultry and goat farms, orchards and greenhouses across the region carry the same daytime load pattern, and irrigation and stock water pumps can run standalone on solar with no line charges.

Towns, schools and commercial sites

Cambridge, Te Awamutu, Morrinsville, Matamata, Huntly and Raglan each have the schools, retirement villages, workshops and retail roofs that suit commercial solar. The process is the same as anywhere: interval data, a modelled proposal, the network connection application (WEL Networks or Powerco depending on the town) and installation by SEANZ-authorised contractors.

Homes across the region

For Waikato homes we design hybrid, battery-ready systems sized from your power bill, with EV-ready wiring as standard. Lifestyle blocks with a shed, a pump or a workshop get the same treatment with the extra load accounted for.

Common questions

Do you cover the whole Waikato?

Yes, from Te Kauwhata and Huntly in the north to Taupō in the south, and from Raglan on the coast to Matamata and Te Aroha in the east.

Is there a minimum system size in the Waikato?

No. The minimum sizes we apply outside the region do not apply here. Very small remote systems are screened before a site visit so we do not waste your time.

Which farms get the most from solar?

Dairy sheds with daytime refrigeration and water heating, poultry sheds with ventilation and climate control, and any site running irrigation or water pumps.
