Orchards, coolstores and packhouses

The Bay of Plenty grows most of New Zealand’s kiwifruit, and the coolstores and packhouses around Te Puke, Katikati and Ōmokoroa run refrigeration through the day for months at a time. That is exactly the load solar offsets best. We model your interval data, size the array to the season and design ground-mount options where the packhouse roof is not enough.

Tauranga and Mount Maunganui

Tauranga’s commercial and industrial roofs at Mount Maunganui, Tauriko and Greerton, and the schools, retirement villages and golf clubs across the city, are strong commercial candidates. For homes in Pāpāmoa, Bethlehem and the Mount we design hybrid, battery-ready systems from 8 to 10 kW upwards, with EV-ready wiring as standard.

Rotorua and the eastern Bay

Rotorua’s tourism, forestry and farming operations and the dairy and horticulture around Whakatāne and Ōpōtiki all fit the farm and commercial systems we design across the region. Installation is by SEANZ-authorised, EWRB-registered contractors in our network, and we handle the Powerco or Horizon connection application.

Common questions

Do you work with kiwifruit and avocado orchards?

Yes. Coolstores and packhouses are among the strongest commercial solar cases in the country, and orchard land can carry ground-mount arrays where it suits.

What is the minimum residential system in the Bay of Plenty?

Residential projects in the Bay of Plenty start at 8 to 10 kW. Commercial, rural and consultancy projects have no minimum.

Is coastal salt a problem for panels?

Panels and mounting are specified for the coastal environment, and we offer cleaning for arrays that soil faster near the coast.
